What is lip micropigmentation?
It is a semi-permanent makeup technique that deposits pigment in the surface layer of the lip. It helps define the border and even out colour, with a finish meant to look natural, not a drawn-on lipstick. It is semi-permanent: the colour fades gradually and is refreshed with touch-ups.
The shade isn't picked from a catalogue: it is defined with you at your evaluation, starting from your lip's natural colour, because the pigment blends with that base and the final result depends on it. That is why two people with the same pigment don't end up the same, and why results vary from person to person.
Who is it for?
For lips that look pale or poorly defined, for anyone who wants a base colour without reapplying lipstick through the day, or for balancing a slight asymmetry in the lip line.
It isn't right for every case or every skin type. A prior evaluation, free and about 15 minutes long, determines whether the treatment suits you and which shade works. If you have a health condition, a history of cold sores, or you are pregnant or breastfeeding, mention it: the practitioner assesses each case individually.
What is the appointment like, step by step?
It starts by drawing the lip line and testing the shade with you, before anything is applied. Work continues only once you're happy.
Topical numbing is then applied and we wait for it to take effect: that's why we set aside around 30 extra minutes of preparation on top of the working time. All in, the visit runs around two hours: it is one of the longer treatments we do, so plan your day.
At the end you get the aftercare instructions, which matter especially for lips in the first few days. The touch-up for the initial session starts at $150 and is scheduled according to how the colour settles.
A $50 deposit is required to hold appointments over $100, and it goes toward your service. You can move or cancel with at least 48 hours' notice; inside that window the deposit is non-refundable.
